Peer-Led Rapid HIV/STI Testing
Peer-Led STI and Rapid HIV Testing is run by Peer Test Facilitators - people who aren't doctors or nurses. Sessions are 30 minutes, and you'll get results for your finger-prick HIV blood test in 20 minutes. Tests also include STI screening for syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea. Peer Testers cannot provide treatment or prescribe medication if your test is positive.
This service is not designed for people taking daily PrEP or anyone with symptoms of an STI. Please book a standard test instead.
Standard HIV/STI Testing and STI Treatment
Appointments include tests for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea. Our practitioners can treat STIs. Book with one of our doctors or nurse practitioners or select this service when you're booking an appointment. Available face-to-face, telephone, or tele-video.
This service is for anyone using daily PrEP or experiencing STI symptoms.
PrEP Prescriptions
In addition to testing and treating STIs and HIV, PRONTO! can help you prevent HIV. Book an appointment, and one of our practitioners can prescribe daily, on-demand, or periodic PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) to stop HIV from taking hold in your body.
Sexual Health
PRONTO! also offers a variety of general sexual health services, from specialised care for people living with HIV to mpox vaccinations. If you require an interpreter service (in a language other than English) or services for hearing-impaired clients, these can be organised by reception at the time of booking.

Fees and Billing
Fees
PRONTO! uses a mixed billing model. The amount you pay depends on the service you receive and whether you have a Medicare card.
Peer-led rapid HIV testing is free and does not require a Medicare card.
For GP and Nurse Practitioner appointments:
- With a Medicare card: Most patients pay $35 out of pocket after the Medicare rebate.
- Without a Medicare card: You will pay the full consultation fee, which ranges from $47 to $163, depending on the service.
- Eligible Concession Card holders: Bulk billed (free).

Free appointments
We bulk bill (free) eligible patients, including people with a Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Low Income Health Care Card, eligible DVA card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, full-time students under 25, and children under 16 years.
Patient Information
After-hours care
If you need urgent medical care outside our opening hours, call DoctorDoctor on 13 26 60 or Nurse-on-Call on 1300 60 60 24 for free health advice from a registered nurse. In an emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
Contacting your clinician
During opening hours, you can call the clinic to speak with your clinician. If they are unavailable, reception will take a message. You can also email pronto.admin@thorneharbour.org, however email is not a secure way to send personal health information.
If you cannot attend the clinic because of your condition and live within 5 km, your doctor may be able to arrange a home visit.
Test results
Most pathology results are available within 10 business days. Your clinician will review your results and discuss them with you during an appointment where needed.
Prescriptions and referrals
To provide safe care, appointments are required for most prescriptions, referrals and pathology results. Repeat prescriptions requested by phone are provided at your doctor's discretion and may incur a fee. Referrals to other healthcare providers may also involve additional costs.
Our locations
Abbotsford: 200 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford. Time-limited street parking is available nearby. The clinic is a five-minute walk from Victoria Park Station, with bus stops located on Hoddle Street.
St Kilda: Victorian Pride Centre, 79–81 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda. Free three-hour parking is available in the Jackson Street car park.
Accessibility
Both clinics are wheelchair accessible and have electric height-adjustable examination beds.
At our St Kilda clinic, please let reception know when booking if you require disability access. When you arrive, call the clinic and reception will operate the assisted chairlift.
Your privacy
Your medical information is kept confidential and secure. We only share your information with your consent or where required by law. You can request access to your medical record at any time. Our services comply with Australian and Victorian privacy laws.
